Boycott

American and Australian whale conservation groups call for Boycott of Japanese Products as Japanese whaling fleet departs

Media Release Nov 19th 2007
The Japanese Whaling fleet left the port of Shimonoseki in Japan on Sunday the 18th for the Antarctic to kill over 1000 whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary under the guise of ‘scientific’ whaling. This kill includes 50 endangered fin whales, 50 endangered humpback whales and 935 minke whales. This is the biggest hunt since the moratorium on commercial whaling came into force more than 20 years ago and for the first time in almost three decades the Japanese want to include the humpbacks on their menu.

Dear General Manager,

I am writing to express my disgust and abhorrence at Japans massacre of up to 20,000 dolphins every year and Japans slaughtering of 863 whales this year in the Antarctic. Japan also wants to restart commercial whaling even though in effect that is what they are doing already under the thin disguise of “scientific whaling “.

Sealord off the hook. No More Boycott campaign for Sealord

metop27k.jpg

A few weeks ago I received fantastic news about the whales. These boycott actions and actions of Greenpeace, Sea Shepherd’s, Earth Island institute and others worldwide forced Nissui, (a 50 % shareholder in Sealord) and Kyodo Senpaku, (a 30% shareholder with Nissui and owner of the whaling fleet) to pull out of the whaling killing industry and also stop distributing and selling whale meat.

Sealord of now off the hook. No More Boycott campaign for Saelord...

YYEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH we won that one.

Japanese whaling and SeaLord Protest Report 16th feb By Dean Jefferys Byron Whale Action Group 11 People from Byron Whale Action Group and newly formed Sea Shepherd group dumped frozen Sealord fish and calimari next to mock whale sushi out front of the Japanese consulate in Brisbane last Wednesday to protest against Japanese whaling and SeaLords involvement in the whaling industry. Howey Cooke composed a special song for the event and 2 loud drums gave it a good Byron flavour.
