Dear International Whaling Commission Member,

I noted with deep regret that at last years IWC you voted with Japan on the Saint Kitts declaration that supports a resumption of comercial whaling. I am writing out of deep concerns for the future of whales. I am strongly opposed to the slaughter of whales for the sake of Scientific Research, and for commercial whaling.

I also understand your country relies a lot on the tourist dollar. Your vote to support the continued killing of whales may influence many potential tourist that may make a decision base on that vote if they would visit your country as many tourist these days are looking for environmentally aware countries and destinations. Many countries that have whales in their waters are now seeing that whales are worth more alive than dead as the whale watching industry is one of the most rapidly growing industries around the world. There is currently a campaign to boycott countries Products and services that are involved in whaling. As your country is now seen in the global eye as supporting the killing of whales many consumers will be considering whether or not to boycott your countries Products and Services as well.

For the sake of your countries economy and the whales I suggest at the next IWC meeting in Alaska, you consider voting to support the preservation of whales and not their killing.
